60 new jobs for Avondale Foods following deal with Asda

A local food manufacturer has secured a deal to produce 20 lines of Asda’s own brand salads, creating 60 new jobs.

Lurgan-based Avondale Foods will supply the supermarket’s range of extra special coleslaws, potato salads, side salads and salad meals – which includes vegan products, to the chains UK wide store network.

The new contract will build on the company’s existing partnership with Asda, which already stocks their range of Country Kitchen coleslaws and traditional vegetable broth.

Avondale Foods was founded over 50 years ago by brothers Harry and Derek Geddis, the company employs over 400 staff.

Head of sales at Avondale Foods, Philip Conway said: “We have a long working relationship with Asda and are delighted to secure this new business on a UK wide level. The deal will mean a significant increase in turnover for us - and create 60 new jobs, which is fantastic.
