WEST Belfast shoppers are being invited to join in the celebrations for the unveiling of one of Northern Ireland’s first new-look Costcutter convenience stores this Friday.

Located on the Andersontown Road and known locally as The Gem, the store has undergone a major refit as part of a national brand transformation programme for Costcutter and is one of the first to open in the north.

“We’re delighted with our new store and can’t wait to see the reaction of our shoppers,” said store owner, Larry Drumm.

“We’ll be introducing an extensive range of convenience products and services including food-to-go and fresh, chilled and frozen products, many of which come from local suppliers in the region including Meatlocker Butchers and Mullins Family Ice cream.

“The store has been designed to meet the needs of the local community as well as creating a fantastic shopping experience. Our shoppers have been identified as those who tend to do daily top up shopping and like to cook from scratch.

"Being located just a few metres from Casement Park in Belfast, the store now offers a seated area serving a wide range of hot and cold food-to-go options including Seattle’s Best Coffee, fresh and locally supplied sandwiches and cakes, hot pastries and a range of convenience snacks.

“As one of the first wave of new-look Costcutter stores in Northern Ireland, we’re really looking forward to wowing customers with our fresh look and feel and we hope to welcome as many people as possible to our launch on Friday.”

The launch event will run from 1pm to 5pm and will include a drinks reception and official ribbon cutting, food sampling and a other special offers and free gifts.

The Andersontown store forms part of Costcutter Supermarket Group’s Shopper First brand transformation programme that responds to the needs of today’s shopper.

This includes focusing on modern convenience shopping needs such as fresh and chilled food, making it easy to grab what shoppers need for their evening meal, as well as food-to-go for the busy shopper.
