A CO Derry self-tanning brand is recruiting 10 new staff on the back of doubling sales in the Republic of Ireland last year.

The Draperstown-based business, bBold is creating the new positions in a bid to drive greater awareness of the brand in the UK retail sector. The significant investment has also facilitated the placement of an interim manager to help bBold make improvements to its warehouse and IT systems and implement a digital strategy to increase online orders.

Managing director of bBold, Catherine O'Connell said they hope to build upon the success enjoyed in the Irish pharmacy market.

"With Invest NI’s assistance we are progressing a recruitment drive and implementing a sales and marketing strategy that will help accelerate the growth of the business."

“Our ambition is to secure full listings throughout the UK so we need to recruit additional sales, marketing and distribution staff to cope with this anticipated demand," she said.

Invest NI has offered bBold £70,000 toward the recruitment of the 10 new jobs, seven of which are already in place. The company also availed of trade support to attend the recent Irish Cosmetic Association tradeshow.

Invest NI's director of life sciences, Grainne McVeigh, added:

“The global self-tan industry is highly competitive but with lucrative market opportunities. We are pleased to be helping bBold implement measures to scale the brand and extend its reach into Great Britain.”
