OVER 350 delegates at the opening day of BelTech 2018 have been told that Belfast has the potential to create its own Silicon Valley.

Technology experts have flown into Northern Ireland from around the world to speak at and attend the two day summit at Belfast Waterfront, which ends today.

Keynote speaker Peter Fossick, design director at Factotum Design, opened the conference with the message ‘data is the new oil’. He said that Belfast has the potential to create its own ‘Silicon Hub’, but that companies need to invest in design to help maximise the attractiveness of their products and services.

Today's session will be focused on education, with 400 post-primary students set to attend inspirational sessions delivered by local and global high tech organisations on how to achieve sustainable digital career paths.
