LOCAL pizzeria chain Little Wing has opened its eighth branch in the north, creating 20 new jobs.

Little Wing has opened its latest restaurant in Newtownards following a £650,000 investment. The new eatery, located on Conway Square, will be open for both lunch and dinner daily and cater for up to 50 guests.

Founded in Belfast in October 2009, Little Wing has gone from strength to strength, selling 1.6 million pizzas to date and with branches across Northern Ireland including Bangor, Holywood, Enniskillen, Lisburn as well as three Belfast outlets.

The Newtownards branch will employ up to 20 new members of staff, bringing the total number of people employed across all Little Wing outlets to 154.

Welcoming the company's eighth restaurant Little Wing managing director, Luke Wolsey revealed there are plans for further outlets in the "near future".

"As a thriving company we felt that this was the right time to grow the business again and to expand our opportunities in 2018. I am confident that the new branch will be a welcome addition to Newtownards and we are really looking forward to becoming involved with the local area and supporting local causes in the community. We are determined to continue to roll out the Little Wing brand across Northern Ireland and further afield and to explore further opportunities to expand our portfolios of restaurants in the near future.”

The new restaurant officially open its doors to the public tomorrow after hosting a number of pre-opening fundraiser sessions in aid of a range of local charities and kid's clubs.
