WORK has commenced on site to deliver new staff accommodation for Queen’s University in Belfast, designed by White Ink Architects.

The scheme is the second phase of original design proposals for the site by White Ink and will provide 14 apartments in a three-storey brick building on Windsor Park within the Malone Conservation Area, Belfast.

It will replicate the award winning first phase which was completed in 2013 providing 28 apartments for university staff in two independent blocks.

Nigel Livingstone, Queen’s University estates directorate, said following the completion of the first phase: "White Ink Architects provided a very committed service throughout the project and were clearly focused on delivering a high quality end product."

The modern design respects the traditional building line and is in sympathy with the grain of the built form of Windsor Park. The brick facade incorporates finely detailed brick textures - a modern reference to the exuberant brick detail of its Victorian neighbours.

Queen’s University has appointed Bell Contracts to undertake the works. The project is programmed to complete in spring 2019.
