THE search is on for the next wave of upcoming Northern Ireland tech start-ups for an exciting new pre-accelerator programme.
Invest NI’s new Propel programme is looking for 20 people to take part in the six month scheme, which has been revamped by renowned UK start-up support and investment network Ignite.
Each entrepreneur or start-up company which is selected for the Propel programme will get access to a £15,000 grant to use towards the development of their business idea and 12 months free co-working at the Ormeau Baths innovation hub, which will also be the home for the new pre-accelerator.
The programmes will include workshops, tutorials, networking opportunities, mentoring, financial support and access to investment, with the first cohort starting in January 2018.
Tristan Watson, managing director of Ignite, which has helped accelerate over 100 start-ups across the UK, said:
“We want to tap into Northern Ireland’s entrepreneurial DNA and to hear from start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs who have fledgling businesses with the potential to really scale up and set the world alight over the next three years. These could be people coming out of university with a great idea, people currently employed by big tech companies working on their own venture in their spare time, or people who have already founded and dedicated themselves to their start-up.”
"Propel is designed to help maximise the number of innovative, high growth export orientated businesses established in Northern Ireland, with a particular emphasis this year on people using technology in innovative and disruptive ways," he added.
