£1.5m investment by western SMEs leads to 31 jobs
MORE than 30 jobs are being created by five small businesses in Fermanagh and Omagh who are investing more £1.5 million in total to grow their market share in Britain.
Struct Steel Engineering, Curran Gas Limited and Greentown Traffic Management from Fermanagh, and Omagh-based companies New Generation Agri and Oran Oak Engineering have been working with Invest NI to help grow their businesses.
A total of 31 new roles are being recruited across the five businesses, which operate in the manufacturing, engineering and service industries.
Invest NI’s western office manager Ethna McNamee said: “This is just a few of the businesses in Fermanagh and Omagh who we are working with to help identify opportunities for growth and development.
"Invest NI support totalling £165,829 is enabling these companies to create new jobs and gain additional resources and expertise to sell to new markets.
“The 31 new jobs, over half of which are already in place, will generate more than £600,000 annually in additional salaries into the local economy and create valuable employment opportunities in the Fermanagh & Omagh District Council area."
She added: “Working together with economic development partners, we want to make Northern Ireland the best region in which to start and grow a business.
"We have given a commitment in our business strategy to work even more closely with partners both locally and internationally to support economic development and contribute to the delivery of community planning.”
Fermanagh & Omagh Council chair Stephen McCann said: “I welcome the fact that these companies are confident enough in their businesses to invest to grow their business in wider markets.
“Job creation in our district is always welcome and these new jobs and their contribution to the local economy is excellent news.
"The council recognises the significant role played by SMEs in the local economy and we will continue to work closely with Invest NI in ensuring this vital sector is provided with the necessary business investment and support.”
