BELFAST independent fashion boutique Rio & Brazil has expanded into new larger premises in Victoria Square.

The locally owned store, which has traded in the city for 35 years, has moved from Wellington Place to a new unit, which is 25 per cent larger in size.

The business, which employs 16 full and part-time staff, is now the largest independent multi-brand fashion retailer in the centre.

Founded by David and Kathy Simpson, and now run by their son Steven and his wife Jeane, Rio & Brazil first started life in Bradbury Place, before moving to Donegall Arcade and finally Wellington Place.

Steven Simpson said the latest move was too good to turn down.

"Access to the broad clientele Victoria Square offers, including the growing tourist market, is a perfect fit for our brand."

Johnsons Solicitors assisted in the move.
