Derry council offering paid placements for young workers

Derry City and Strabane District Council are offering paid placements for 16-24 year olds

DERRY City and Strabane District Council are offering paid placements for 16-24 year olds as part of the European Union programme.

The scheme will run between October this year and Spring 2018, where a range of local employers will pay £7.50 an hour on a 30 hour week basis.

In order to be eligible for the scheme you must reside within the Derrry and Strabane Council, be between the ages of 16 and 24 and currently seeking employment.

District Mayor, Councillor Maoilíosa McHugh said: “This is a significant opportunity for those who are out of work to really get a sense of what career path they would like to take and gain valuable experience in their search for employment.”
