A GLASGOW-based business consultancy firm has chosen Derry as the location for a new office, creating four jobs.

Lithe IT, which provides a range of business process services and solutions, has set up a sales and marketing function in the city in a bid to grow its reach across Europe and North America.

The new office at the Playhouse will be housed by four staff including a sales director, sales executive, marketing executive and a software engineer, with the company hoping to increase employment further in the future.

Chief business development officer at Lithe IT Brendan McNabb said it was an exciting game for the company with ongoing global growth

"We continue to invest in the business in response to the demand for our services and solutions primarily in the North America and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa regions).”

Mr McNabb, who is from the north west, was a strong advocate for locating the project in Derry.

"As a local, I am very aware of the strong skill set here,”

“We will be skilling up the team on new technologies and they will be working closely with me to identify new opportunities and provide support to our existing and new customers.”

Invest NI has offered Lithe IT £24,000 of support towards the new roles, which carry annual salaries of between £25,000 and £50,000.

Des Gartland, north west regional manager for Invest NI said he was delighted the company had chosen Derry as a new base.

"The company considered a number of potential locations for its new sales and marketing team but chose Derry based on the availability of strong technical and industry specific sales skills.

“They have moved very quickly to get the office up and running and have already recruited two people and will be looking to fill the remaining two roles by late autumn."

Lithe IT is headquartered in Glasgow, with a presence in London and New York. It currently employees 20 people and has a turnover in excess of £1 million a year.
