A FORMER police station turned luxury bed and breakfast has been awarded a five star grading by Tourism NI under its visitor accommodation grading scheme.

Water’s Edge bed and breakfast in Glenarm, Co Antrim, scored highly on all ten categories and was awarded five stars, signalling an excellent accommodation provider for visitors, ideally located for touring the Glens of Antrim and visiting the many tourism giants on the Causeway Coastal Route.

To achieve a star-rating, accommodation providers are subject to an unannounced mystery assessment from a Tourism NI Quality Grading Advisor and are assessed in up to ten categories including cleanliness, hospitality and friendliness, service and efficiency and food quality.

Water’s Edge proprietors Jenny and Peter Monroe said they were delighted to achieve the top grading.

"We strive to maintain high standards of comfort and provide tasty, locally sourced food," Jenny said.

"Since we opened in 2015, we have welcomed in excess of 1300 guests. We are privileged to have such a lifestyle in a most picturesque setting. Our guests often tell us that they feel at home here, that is exactly what we love to hear.”

Tourism NI quality and standards manager Caroline Adams added:

“Water’s Edge bed and breakfast is an excellent visitor accommodation provider which strengthens the tourism offering in Glenarm. The conversion from the Police Station of Glenarm to the modern three bedroom B&B is nothing short of spectacular. The stunning views are coupled with five star service and focus on home-grown and local produce. I commend Jenny and Peter’s commitment to working collaboratively with other local tourism providers to promote Glenarm as a must see destination for local and international visitors.”
