Ireland’s largest licensed microwave radio provider, Viatel has expanded its network reach to businesses in the north with a £250,000 investment.

Building on its strong reputation in the Republic the firm, celebrating its 20th year in business, has now extended its superfast 1Gbps network to businesses in Northern Ireland, as part of ongoing strategic investment in network growth across the island of Ireland.

Viatel’s new licensed microwave radio network will service all of the key city business parks and the surrounding areas including Lisburn, Lurgan, Dunmurry, Newtownards, Holywood, Newtownabbey and will connect to Viatel’s core fibre network to deliver secure, high-speed, scalable bandwidth from 10Mbps to 1,000Mbps.

Director of sales and marketing at Viatel Damien McCann said the investment is in response to demand across Ireland.

“As Ireland’s largest licensed radio provider with nationwide coverage, we intend to expand our network footprint further into Northern Ireland so businesses irrespective of their location, can avail of our enterprise-class 1Gbps wireless broadband which can be deployed as a primary or backup connectivity service."
