TWO Northern Ireland companies feature in the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 league table.

Published this weekend, the 16th annual Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the biggest sales.

Among them are two firms based in the north - Grain and animal feed producer W&R Barnett (59) and retail giant Henderson Group (89).

Together they achieved sales of £1.6 billion and profits of £90 million in their last financial year, and collectively employ more than 4,100 people.

W&R Barnett grew its sales 16 per cent last year to £946m, following the acquisition of Logson, a corrugated packaging group, in November 2015, while Henderson Group, which supplies Northern Ireland’s Spar, Eurospar, Vivo and Vivoxtra franchises, as well as operating 79 of its own stores, grew sales 6 per cent to £699m last year.

The companies in Northern Ireland appear with businesses from around the UK, including high-profile brands such as Clarks, Dyson, Specsavers and Virgin Atlantic.
