ONE of Northern Ireland’s oldest independent funeral businesses, Melville & Co Ltd, has refreshed its look, rebranding its name and logo.

Now known as Melville Morgan, the rebrand incorporates the name of the Morgan family who have owned the company for over 30 years.

The Morgan family has steadily invested in Melville Morgan over the past three decades and the company now encompasses five funeral homes at locations in Greater Belfast and Bangor and employs 25 full and part-time staff.

Chairman of Belfast based Morgan Group, Raymond Morgan, said: "The original family funeral business Melville & Co was founded in 1858. Our family company, John Morgan & Sons, the furniture removal business known as Morgan Removals, was established in 1915 by my grandfather and was perhaps the company name people most associated us with.

"We have also owned and managed Melville & Co, our funeral business, since the 1980s and have always been actively involved. In renewing our brand name we wanted to highlight our personal interest, pride and commitment to the firm, its staff and local people in Northern Ireland to going forward."

He added: "We have invested consistently in our staff, fleet of vehicles and funeral homes to provide services of the highest possible standards. In each of our funeral homes we have a dedicated team of people with an in-depth knowledge of their area and community and many years of experience in the industry."

At the helm of Melville Morgan is Nick Berryman, Raymond Morgan’s son-in-law, who said: ‘Family values remain at the heart of all we do. Although we are one of the largest independent funeral operators in Greater Belfast and Bangor, our aim is to continue to provide a personal service, tailored to the individual needs of all those who call upon us."

Melville Morgan funeral homes are located at York Road, Lisburn Road, Ballysillan Road, Holywood Road and Clandeboye Road in Bangor.

The company is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), the governing body for professional funeral service providers.
