FORMER interior furnishing giant Fultons has returned to the high street with a new £1 million showroom in Lurgan.

One of the north's best known brands is back and is creating at least 10 new jobs within its 13,000 sq ft showroom on Queen Street.

The new business is being spearheaded by Paul Fulton, the son of Cyril, who built the brand over several decades since the 1960s and is renowned for his interior design skills.

The original business began in Lurgan over 50 years ago opened a Belfast operation in 1991, moving to its new purpose-built premises 60,000 sq ft showroom on Boucher Road in 2006.

The company went into administration in July 2012 after falling into financial difficulties post-recession.

Paul Fulton has said customers can expect the same level of both quality and detail that is synonymous with the family name.

“We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm from customers old and new for the venture. We have invested significantly and taken our time to ensure that the showroom is absolutely right, and we are delighted with the outcome."

Cyril Fulton added: “The Fultons emphasis has always been to be much more than a furniture store with Interior design at the core of what is provided for the customer. Fultons attention to detail is highly valued and the team are very much looking forward to welcoming long-standing and new customers to the new showroom.”

The £1 million investment by the Fulton family in the new Lurgan store is being supported by Ulster Bank and business development manager, Derick Wilson said he had no doubt the Fulton family's latest venture would be a success.

"With their strong brand and experience in the sector, I have no doubt that the family are well placed to really build the business into the future.”
