Northern Ireland ice cream brand Morelli's has announced a major new contract to supply Tesco stores in the Republic.

Continuing the family-owned company's long-standing relationship with the grocery giant in the north, which spans 11 years, Morelli's ice cream will now be stocked in 29 Tesco stores spread across 15 counties in the Republic of Ireland.

Double Cream Vanilla and Honeycomb will be the initial flavours on sale tempting consumers, available in the new 950ml tubs.

Arnaldo Morelli, who heads up the business, said the ice cream would be in stores just in time for summer.

"We’re confident that once consumers in Ireland get a taste for two of our most popular award-winning flavours, it won’t be long before they’ll be looking for more choice and we’ll be in a position to increase our range."
