CO Down property firm Wirefox is reportedly in line to buy the CastleCourt shopping centre in Belfast for £125m.

The Hollywood-based company is understood to be in discussions to buy the 340,000 sq ft premises on Royal Avenue, according to a report in CoStar News.

The third biggest shopping centre in Northern Ireland CastleCourt is home to 96 retailers including Debenhams Argos and Toys R Us and attracts more than 12.5m visitors a year.

Opened in 1990, the centre is currently owned by Hermes Real Estate Investment Management, who took full control in 2012 after buying the remaining stake previously held by Westfield.

Wirefox, run by BJ Eastwood, grandson of well-known businessman and bookmaker Barney Eastwood, has a portfolio of retail and office assets across Northern Ireland and the UK.

Last September it extended its Scottish portfolio with the acquisition of the Southergate Centre in Dumfries

The asset had formerly been part of Nama's Project Eagle loan portfolio.
