THE UK’s largest independent telecommunications provider Onecom has reported revenues of £1 million in its first three months of trading in the north.

Onecom opened its regional office in Belfast at the start of the year and is committed to invest more than £5m in its Northern Ireland operation and employ 30 people in the city within five years.

At present the company has six staff in Belfast, but expects that number to rise to 10 in the coming weeks.

The company has said it has hit its six month target of achieving 2,000 business connections within its first quarter in the market.

Paul Lawther, head of sales at Onecom in Belfast, said the early results were promising.

“We have had a strong response from Northern Ireland businesses to Onecom’s offering and the figures are a clear indication that many of those companies have embraced both the brand and our products."

Onecom aims to provide innovative solutions to businesses in Northern Ireland that offer them a simple way of bringing together mobile, fixed line, data and IT services as one integrated, cost-effective package.

Headquartered in Hampshire, Onecom operates from 12 regional offices throughout the UK and employs more than 400 staff, including a team of enterprise communications specialists based on Arthur Street in central Belfast

The company is Vodafone UK’s largest enterprise partner, managing more than 325,000 mobile connections.
