DANSKE Bank has named 27-year-old Conor Lambe as its new economist in Northern Ireland.

Mr Lambe, originally from Carrowdore in Co Down, has been working as an economist at PwC in London.

He joins Danske in January to replace Angela McGowan who was appointed head of the CBI in the north earlier this year.

Mr Lambe, a former pupil of Regent House School in Newtownards holds a first-class honours degree in economics from the University of St Andrew's in Scotland.

He relocated to city of London in 2012 where he specialised in macroeconomic analysis and regularly contributed to PwC's series of economic publications.

Danske said Mr Lambe delivered both thought leadership reports and client services at PwC, and has notable experience in areas that include macroeconomic scenario development, economic forecasting, data analysis and economic research.

Danske's chief financial officer Stephen Matchett said: "After a highly competitive recruitment process we are delighted to welcome Conor as our new economist.

"He was clearly a rising star at PwC and we are delighted that he has chosen to return home to Northern Ireland to take up this exciting position at Danske Bank.

"He will bring with him fresh insights and perspectives on the UK, Irish and local economies. We believe he will be a valuable addition not just to Danske Bank, but also to wider societal economic debate."

Conor Lambe will take up his new position at Danske Bank's head office in Belfast on January 3.
