THE site of the former landmark Curran Court Hotel in Larne has been put up for sale with an asking price of £275,000.

Commercial property agent Lisney has been instructed to sell the 0.36-acre site, on which outline planning permission was granted in 2014 for the construction of 20 two-bedroom apartments, though the land may also be suitable for alternative residential development.

A well-known landmark on the Curran Road, the former hotel, first opened in 1975, is situated just a five-minute walk from Larne town centre and sits opposite Curran Park, boasting attractive views across the area.

Lynn Taylor, a chartered surveyor at Lisney Belfast, said: “The land is a regular shape, is relatively flat and benefits from prominent double frontage onto Curran Road and Tower Road.

“With very few residential development sites currently available in Larne and, coupled with the town’s convenient proximity to Belfast and Carrickfergus, we believe that the property will only be on the market a short time."

She added: “The Curran Court Hotel is one of Larne’s landmarks and, given its significant residential potential and the lack of other development opportunities in the area, we anticipate high levels of interest from a range of buyers.”
