HAGAN Homes has begun construction on 30 new homes in a £3.5 million development in east Belfast.

One of Northern Ireland's largest homebuilders, the company is building two-bedroom apartments on a 1.6 acre site on the Upper Newtownards Road - providing 50 construction jobs in the process

The first phase is scheduled for completion in February 2017, with prices starting from around £114,950. A completion date for the entire site has been set for May, 2017.

Hagan Homes managing director, Jamesy Hagan, said the announcement was a "clear indication" of confidence in the local market and a further sign of rejuvenation in the construction sector.

"Demand for superior homes which offer value in Northern Ireland is high and the Upper Newtownards Road development offers home buyers the opportunity to live within Dundonald village, which is convenient to key arterial routes, as well as a wide range of amenities and entertainment," he said.

"The two-bedroom apartments are designed to appeal to all demographics, whether first-time buyers, young professionals or down-sizers."

Each apartment comes with a turnkey specification which includes a fully fitted kitchen and modern bathroom suite.

A show house in the project, for which the main contractor is Warrenpoint based Eden Contractors Ltd, will open for public viewing in spring 2017.
