CAPITA Managed IT Solutions has been awarded contracts by two high profile organisations in Northern Ireland to deliver IT infrastructure services and support.

The Newtownabbey-based firm has been selected by Derry City & Strabane District Council following a competitive tender process, and has been awarded a contract by building materials company Murdock Builders Merchants.

With a total value of £500,000, the two contracts will see Capita supporting these organisations to drive operational efficiencies and growth across the north’s public and private sectors.

Under the contract with Derry City & Strabane Council, Capita will provide an infrastructure refresh, including disaster recovery and support services for over 1,000 council system users.

The infrastructure upgrade will deliver cost efficiencies, allowing the council to deliver more connected and effective public services to its residents whilst saving money which can be reinvested in front-line services.

Paul Jackson, digital services manager for Derry City & Strabane District Council, said: “We've been looking for the most cost effective way to improve our IT infrastructure, enhancing reliability and improving network speeds across the council estate. Capita was successful after a competitive tender. The contract will help staff at the council to deliver ever-more important services to residents across the area.”

For Murdock Builders Merchants, Capita will deliver a completely new infrastructure refresh including disaster recovery and business continuity to the business for the next three years. Murdock’s has over 10 sites across the region and each will have access to 24/7 on-site support from Capita.

Michael Rooney, group IT manager for Murdock’s, said: “The team at Capita has been a long-term partner for us, so it’s great that we’re able to keep using it as our IT infrastructure needs have expanded.”

Ed Brown, managing director of Capita Managed IT Solutions, said: “It’s great news to see organisations in the region investing in their IT infrastructure – and I’m pleased that Capita is so well placed to service both the public and private sectors.

"From supporting council officers in doing their civic duty to helping the private sector continue to drive economic growth, Capita has a huge amount to offer Northern Ireland.”
