Limavady plumber disqualified for eight years

KPM & Son Contracts carried out plumbing and heating work

THE director of a plumbing and heating firm in Limavady has been banned from the boardroom for eight years.

Kevin Patrick McLaughlin (58) of Newline Road was director of KPM & Son Contracts which went into liquidation in 2014 owing £204,746 to creditors.

The company had offices in Limavady and on Glen Road, Belfast.

The Department for the Economy said Mr McLaughlin had allowed the company to retail £196,754 owed in various taxes between 2012 and 2014.

During this time however, it paid at least £974,675 to trade creditors, it said.

He also failed to have adequate financial controls in place thereby causing and permitting the company to misuse the company bank account.

Meanwhile, Mr McLaughlin continued to act as a director of the company at a time when he was bankrupt.

The department said he displayed "a want of commercial probity in bringing the company into disrepute by making false claims which may have misled customers and in so doing failed in his duty to promote the success of the company".

Other failings included filing late annual returns and annual accounts on dates between 2010 and 2012 and not filing annual accounts at all in 2013.
