Belfast man takes up top PwC finance role in the US

A BELFAST-born and educated man has been named as chief financial officer for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ operating in the US, one of the biggest jobs in global accountancy.

Martyn Curragh, who graduated in economics from Queen's University in 1985, takes up the post on July 1.

He has been with PwC for more than 20 years, working first in Northern Ireland before relocating to the US in 1998.

During his tenure with PwC, he has distinguished himself as a seasoned deal specialist with extensive experience in global and cross border deals, having served numerous private equity and corporate clients in the US and around the world.

Indeed over the course of his career he has been involved in transactions aggregating more than $30 billion across industries including media and publishing, consumer products and retail, industrial products, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace and defense contracting.

Curragh - who is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland - has advised clients throughout the entire life-cycle of a transaction, providing due diligence and advice on deals strategy and integration, capital raising, restructuring and divestitures accounting and financial reporting and valuations.
