AROUND £5 million of new luxury apartments were sold in one day, according to its selling agents.

The first phase of the Matic building in Belfast being developed by Alan Fraser went on sale on Thursday.

And within 10 hours, 22 homes had been signed for with more subsequently released to satisfy demand.

The overall scheme will consist of 75 luxury apartments and includes a private leisure facility, a 22m swimming pool and gymnasium and a 24-hour concierge service.

Estate agent Simon Brien said more than a third of the homes had now been sold.

The Matic will be situated on Chichester Street and Gloucester Street with a design of two towers joined by a central private residents' garden.

It is named in honour of John Dunlop inventor of the pneumatic tyre. A veterinarian, he set up a practice on Gloucester Street where he was working at the same time.

“The Matic is not only situated in a prime location in Belfast but its luxurious and contemporary style and offering make it one of the most exciting development projects to come to Belfast and it’s not surprising that people are eager to snap these up," said Mr Brien.

"The unique attributes of the Matic have undoubtedly been key selling points for both owner occupiers and investors, in addition to the high specification of the apartments themselves. Phase one was released at 8am on Thursday and they were all agreed by 6pm that evening, making the Matic the most successful city centre development to be launched in recent years.

“We expected high demand across the board but the rate at which they have sold has been exceptional. The majority of the apartments are being bought by owner occupiers reinforcing there is demand for city centre living.”
