Head-hunting firm appointed to recruit regional CBI director

EXECUTIVE head-hunting firm 4c has been appointed to head up the search to find a successor to CBI Northern Ireland director Nigel Smyth, who is standing down this summer after 26 years in the role.

Independent consultancy 4c, which is located in Belfast and London and has associate offices throughout UK and Europe, are seeking applications up until May 13.

The company's managing director and principal search consultant Gary Irvine said: “The role of director of the CBI in Northern Ireland is a very high profile business leadership role both locally and right across the UK.

"The role brings with it an extensive portfolio of responsibility and engagement not only within the organisation, but with the CBI’s valued members in Northern Ireland and with key business, political and media stakeholders locally and UK-wide.

“We will be following an extensive executive search process to ensure that the very best available candidate is recruited to fill this role and drive the CBI in Northern Ireland forward in the years to come.”

The CBI is looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual who has a track record of commercial achievement and a strong intellect and ability to understand commercial and financial principals across organisations, is a highly effective and intelligent communicator with demonstrable experience in speaking to the media and developing relationships with people and organisations from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds, demonstrates significant leadership experience as a member of a senior management team or board, and possesses a strategic approach to leadership, a collegiate approach to management and the ability to undertake a demanding, diverse workload.
