A TOOMEBRIDGE joinery firm has won £76 million worth of contracts across Britain and Ireland in the past two years.

Edgewater Contracts & Specialist Joinery (ECSJ) said the deals had allowed them to added 19 jobs over the period.

The company was formed in 2012 and provides bespoke joinery and fit out services to the hotel and leisure, residential, hospitality, retail and heritage sectors.

As well as employing 45 people directly, the company calls on a workforce of more than 100 subcontractors.

And company director Cathy Murtagh said that number could grow further through increasing workloads closer to home.

"Although the majority of our work is based in the UK mainland, we anticipate a number of projects starting in Northern Ireland next year," she said.

"We have already completed a number of major hotel, apartment and retail projects throughout the UK and Ireland. These include the Burlington Hotel in Dublin which was the largest hotel fit out project in Ireland at the time, 42 apartments in Dunmurry, Belfast, the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport and a comprehensive retail high end fit out of Brown Thomas in Dublin.

"We are currently working at the Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh and 72 high end apartments with Redrow in central London."

ECSJ managing director Seamus Murray said: The firm's "geographic presence and growing reputation are leading to increased enquiries and tendering opportunities with prospective new clients."

The company received a £300,000 loan from the Growth Loan Fund two years ago.

Andrew Gowdy, senior portfolio manager at Whiterock Capital Partners which administers the fund, said: "There is a strong management team in place to continue this growth, helping the company reach its full potential. They are a local company who has established themselves as a market leader with a very strong presence across the UK and Ireland."
