Tenant is sought for Derry's Brooke Park Pavilion Cafe

BUSINESSES in the hospitality industry are being given the unique opportunity to snap up a spot in one of Derry’s most scenic locations as the new Gwyn’s Pavilion in Brooke Park nears completion.

Derry City and Strabane District Council is currently in the process of tendering a catering agreement with a view to procuring a tenant to manage the new state of the art café building.

The new Gwyn’s Pavilion occupies a prime location on the site of the former Gwyn’s Institution with sweeping views of the landscaped parkland and beyond to the city walls. The contemporary glass fronted building and open plan design make the space offering light and airy.

It is set within the context of 20 acres of historic parkland which is in the final stages of a massive £5.6 million transformation. The regeneration of the park is well under way and completion of the project is anticipated by early summer of this year.

Mayor Elisha McCallion said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone hoping to establish a new business or extend their existing business offering within the context of a historic parkland.

“The Pavilion is located right beside a new state of the art children’s play environment and has a spacious floor area of 230 sq m with terraces to the front and rear of the building. The café will also benefit from the close proximity of the much anticipated new sports and leisure facilities on site.

“The view alone is enough to attract tourists and visitors to this beautiful location as well as the historic links to one of the city’s most famous landmarks, known locally as ‘The People’s Park’.”
