RESTAURANT chain Prezzo, which offers a range of Italian inspired dishes including pizzas, pastas, salads and meat plates, is the latest eatery to sign up to the Boucher Square development in south Belfast.

Alterity Developments and Belfast-based property consultants TDK confirmed that planning has been applied for, and the new restaurant - only the chain's second in Northern Ireland after Victoria Square - could be open by the autumn.

Alterity Developments and TDK Property Consultants are delighted to announce an additional restaurant unit in Boucher Square, Belfast.

Prezzo, which means 'price' in Italian, joins Frankie & Bennys, Costa Coffee and Ed's Easy Diner at Boucher Square, which opened last July. And Nandos opens on site at the end of January.

Mark Thallon of TDK said: “We've been delighted with the success of Boucher Square, which has meant us having to look at ways to try and meet the demand for operators wanting a presence in the scheme.

"Prezzo, which has grown to more than 200 restaurants since first opening on London's New Oxford Street in 2000, are a fantastic addition and will complement the other national restaurant operators already there.”

Meanwhile TDK has also confirmed lettings to national restaurant operator Pizza Express and Caffé Nero for a new restaurant destination at Ballyhackamore in east Belfast, where Graze, Il Pirata, Greens and Little Wing already trade strongly.

EA Lonergan Ltd purchased the former Ulster Bank in Ballyhackamore and targeted restaurant national operators which would complement the strong offer already present in the area, which is increasingly seen one of the premier eating destinations outside Belfast city centre.

For Pizza Express, a group with more than 400 restaurants across the UK and 40 overseas in Europe, Hong Kong, India and the Middle East, it's the fourth unit in Northern Ireland after Victoria Sq, Bedford St and Lisburn Road, while Caffé Nero has a number of units across the region.

Construction is currently under way with the units due to open in early spring.

Mr Thallon added: “The food and beverage scene is undergoing a renaissance in Belfast and EA Lonergan are at the forefront of developing purpose-built destinations. We are delighted to again have advised on this latest move and look forward to developing this concept in other locations.”
