A BESPOKE communications package worth £250,000 will keep a Co Armagh firm 'on track' in providing a first-class delivery service for clients across Ireland.

Express Distribution Services (EDS) in Lurgan has completed a deal with independent telecoms provider Rainbow Communications for a range of services including online tracking of all EDS vehicles and monitoring driver behaviour.

The company, which operates a fleet of 40 vehicles and has grown since 1997 to become one of Ireland's leading distribution companies, previously used a range of providers but came up against a number of problems.

"Previous to the appointment of Rainbow we encountered a number of issues, including losing a lot of customer contacts from calls getting dropped when being transferred," managing director David Neill said.

"As a busy distribution service with over 70 staff across two depots including 37 drivers out-on-the-road, it became increasingly critical for us to find a more reliable and cost-effective solution to our telecoms requirement."

With all telecoms business now consolidated into a tailored Rainbow package, Mr Neill says the firm has already benefited from increased efficiencies.

"With the driver tracking facility, we now know exactly where all our drivers are at any time which helps us co-ordinate customer orders and deliveries much more efficiently," he added.
