Ten 'tech' companies in north among Deloitte 'Fast 50'

TEN companies from the north have made it into the latest Deloitte's 'Fast 50' which measures Ireland's fastest growing indigenous companies in the technology sector.

Instil Software of Belfast was the highest ranking firm in the north, coming in at number 14, with the top three spots all taken by companies in the Republic - ShopWorld, Dublin; Vearsa, Cork, and CWSI, Dublin, coming first, second and third respectively.

The other Northern Ireland companies listed include Ozaroo.com (15th), Seven Technologies Holdings Ltd (20th), Seopa Ltd (24th), PathXL Ltd (28th), Leaf Consultancy Ltd, (32nd), Tascomi (33rd), First Derivatives Plc (41st), Neueda Consulting Ltd (46th), Novosco (49th) and Learning Pool Ltd (50th).

In addition, PathXL which has an innovation centre at the Northern Ireland Science Park in Belfast, won the research and development award, in association with Groupon, while Flint Studios, an award-winning web design and software development agency also based in Belfast, took home the rising star award.

Cumulatively, the 2015 'Fast 50 'winners generated approximately €480 million (£335.9m) in total annual revenues in 2014 - average revenue €9.5m (£6.6m) - while the average growth rate over the last four years was 540 per cent.

Announcing the winners, David Crawford, partner at Deloitte said: "What's really encouraging is the ambition that is apparent - on average, 58 per cent of turnover among the winners is generated by exports. Furthermore, on average, over a quarter of turnover is spent on research and development."
