RUSHMERE shopping centre in Craigavon is fully let after signing up CEX and Uberfone to fill its remaining two vacant units.

Technology specialist retailer CEX plans to open a 1,892 sq ft store in the next month, while joining them in time for Christmas will be Uberfone, occupying a 1,034 sq ft shop.

The latest signings follow recent openings by Skechers, Pandora, Danish fashion brand At The Studio and a boutique from Irish independent fashion retailer Clockwork.

CEX specialises in technology, computing and video games, and currently has 10 stores in the north, while mobile phone accessory firm Uberfone will bring its stores portfolio to six when it launched in the 500,000 sq ft Rushmere mall.

Centre manager Martin Walsh said: “Trade has been strong over recent weeks, and with the new lettings we can look forward to overall performance increasing even further in the run up to the festive season.

“Research has shown customers are now travelling from further afield to enjoy the full extent of what Rushmere offers."

Planning consent has also been granted for the development of two new restaurants at the centre, and when completed early next year, nearly 200 jobs will have been created, making Rushmere one of the major employers in the Craigavon area.

The shopping offer at Rushmere - which is anchored by an 82,000 sq ft Debenhams department store and a 53,000 sq ft Sainsbury supermarket - also includes and adjacent retail park, anchored by Homebase and Matalan.

Savills acted for Rushmere owners Central Craigavon Limited, while Cameron Trafford represented CEX.
