THE Damolly Retail Park in Newry has become the latest shopping centre to be placed on the market - with an asking price of £33.5 million.

The centre, which has tenants including B&Q and Lidl, provides three-quarters of all retail warehouse floor space in the city.

It was bought by London based Metric Property Investments from the Corbo Group for a reported £28.8m in 2010.

The park was built in 1999 and has more than 165,000 sq ft of retail space - all of which is occupied.

Tenants include B&Q, Lidl, McDonalds, Smyths Toys, Curry’s PC World, Halfords, Next Home, Mothercare and Harveys while Costa and Home Bargains have recently opened.

It is just the latest centre to be offered for sale as the ownership of the north's best known retail parks continue to change hands.

Junction One in Antrim, The Outlet in Banbridge and Bangor's Bloomfield Shopping Centre are all also seeking new owners.

Recently sold centres include Lisnagelvin Retail Park in Derry and Showgrounds Retail Park in Omagh were both sold to UK institutional investors for a combined price of £43.4m.

Lisnagelvin was sold to M&G Real Estate for £16.7m while the Showgrounds Retail Park went for £26.7m in a joint purchase by Pradera and Tristan Capital Partners.

Both centres had been owned by Corbo which also sold a south-Belfast scheme at Upper Gallwally occupied by Homebase and the UK Border Agency for around £10m.

The commercial property agents responsible for the sale of Damolly Retail Park, CBRE, declined to comment.
