Retailers' seminar on rates

AN INFORMATION seminar for independent retailers and small businesses into the rates revaluation will take place next week.

Hosted by the Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) and property specialists Osborne King, it's on Monday at 6.30pm in the Foyle Lecture Theatre, Chartered Accountants House, Linenhall Street.

Experts from Department of Finance, Land and Property Service and Osborne King will be present to answer questions.

NIIRTA chief executive Glyn Roberts said: "The Rates Revaluation has resulted in both winners and losers amongst our membership and it is important that we support those independent retailers who face a significantly higher rates bill come 1st April. "Our event will aim to provide independent retailers and small businesses with the information around the process and how they can appeal. "Following feedback we are concerned that NIIRTA members who own petrol forecourts, in particular are seeing up to a seventy percent increase in their rates bill which is completely unacceptable."
