Shakespearean destination for airline

LEISURE airline Jet2.com has added the historic Italian city of Verona to its portfolio of routes from Belfast.

It will be the carrier's fifth new destination for summer 2015 from Belfast International Airport alongside Prague, Rome, Gran Canaria and Zante - and it the only scheduled service from the north. Flights, operating between May 20 and September 23, went on sale yesterday from £49 one-way, while sister company Jet2holidays is offering week-long breaks from £439 per person.

The company's chief executive Steve Heapy, pictured, said: "This year is going to be our biggest one yet from Belfast International Airport, with a total of 18 destinations plus an additional aircraft. "Verona, the home of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and which enjoys a rich history with countless museums and galleries, is a fantastic place to visit and I'm sure it will prove extremely popular." Aldergrove airport's managing director Graham Keddie said: "Verona is another great addition to the route network at Belfast International and we are delighted that both Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are committed to developing new services from here."

With the stunning Lake Garda on its doorstep, Verona is seen as the perfect starting point for a fabulous break in one of Italy's most beautiful regions.
