Adults favour Radio Ulster

BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle is the most listened to radio station in Northern Ireland according to latest figures from industry body Rajar covering the July, August and September.

Radio Ulster had an average weekly audience of 536,000 listeners, which is more than 36 per cent of the adult population - up 3,000 year on year and up 25,000 compared to the previous quarter. Radio Foyle has an average weekly audience of 44,000, which was also up on previous numbers.

In the commercial sector Cool FM led the way with 372,000 listeners a week while sister station Downtown had 269,000 listeners - a combined weekly audience of 594,000, or 41 per cent of the adult population. Corresponding quarterly numbers for other stations included U105 (193,000), Citybeat (127,000) and the Q Radio Network (117,000).
