4,293 new jobs in Belfast super council area

SOME 4,293 new jobs have been promoted in the new Belfast super council area in the last year, according to figures from Invest NI.

There was also a significant rises in offers (up 12 per cent), assistance (up 170 per cent) and investment (up 184 per cent) in 2013/14 compared to the previous year, the agency said.

Total jobs promoted increased by 115 per cent, some 67 per cent of which were by foreign companies such as EY, Concentrix and Novosco. Entrepreneurial activity also continued to strengthen, with 283 jobs promoted through the Regional Start Initiative.

Moira Loughran, Invest NI's eastern regional manager, said: "Our support for new and existing companies, both overseas and locally-owned, is making a significant contribution to the development of local economy in terms of investment and employment."
