North's babies set for new heavenly tastes

FOR the first time ever, fresh baby food is on sale in Northern Ireland. Heavenly tasty Organics, a tyrone-based specialist in baby weaning foods, has launched a range of baby food into 19 tesco stores. The chilled range includes natural fruit purees in apple and pear for weaning babies from 4 to 6 months onwards. It also features meals suitable from seven months and from nine months, including tomato and pasta, lentil and vegetable soup, minced beef and potato and spaghetti bolognese. The entire range is dairy free and gluten free. Heavenly tasty Organics managing director Shauna Mccarney-Blair said: "We don't believe that baby food needs to be highly processed to give it a long shelf life. After all, why should your baby food be older than your baby?

"We believe that all babies should have access to the best food possible and this means fresh, natural ingredients. And we believe this new range has clear, unique benefits. The products are all fresh and organic as well as dairy and gluten free."

Both Shauna and the company have scooped numerous awards since starting up, including gold, silver and bronze in the baby food category in the Irish Food Awards 2013.
