Jobs lost as company closes

NEWTONWARDS-based flooring company duncan rugs has closed with the loss of all 12 jobs. Administrators were appointed late on Friday and said they had no choice but to make all employees redundant. According to a statement by the administrators, directors had concluded the company was insolvent following a difficult period of trading. Duncan rugs was set up more than 30 years ago by David Duncan, and is a global importer and distributor of rugs. one of the administrators, Andrew Dolliver, said: "it is regrettable we have had to close Duncan rugs. our immediate review concluded that continuing to trade was not commercially viable and it is with regret that i had no alternative but to make all workers redundant with immediate effect."
