BANKING giant Santander's corporate and commercial division has appointed Simon Huntley as international director for Northern Ireland, a new role which has been created to increase support for businesses looking to grow overseas.

Based at the bank's corporate business centre in Belfast, he will specialise in working with Northern Ireland firms who want to trade internationally, focusing on trade finance, supply chain finance, foreign exchange and international payments.

From Jordanstown, he previously held the role of director of supply chain finance for Santander UK and before that worked for Bottomline Technologies Europe Ltd.

Santander corporate and commercial, which has centres in Belfast and Derry, doubled its relationship banking team in Northern Ireland from seven to 14 last year, reflecting its commitment to help local businesses grow and develop.
