PERMISSION 'CAME OUT OF THE BLUE'

NEWS that a new aircraft components factory in Crumlin was to be given the green light came out of the blue, with nobody more surprised that the applicants themselves. Management at RLC-UK were caught on the hop when contacted by The Irish News yesterday, insisting no decision had yet been made. And their surprise was replaced with bemusement when the press release announced permission had been given to the Royal Logistics Corp - completely unrelated to the firm. Although components manufactured by RLC are used in military aircraft, the letters actually stand for Ronaldsway Langford Callender, representing the company's three locations. The Royal Logistics Corp, on the other hand, provides support functions to the British army. A DoE official said the mistake was down to human error.
