Irish at QUB is pleased to host its first annual public lecture on Wednesday, 25 April at 6pm. This year, Professor Bernadette Ó’Rourke (Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh), will deliver a talk on the topic “The authority to speak — Linguistic intolerance, anonymity and monolingual regimes”. This public lecture is free and open to all. The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. The lecture will be conducted in English. Please feel free to circulate this information widely.

While the Good Friday Agreement saw the birth of hope for many, it also saw the end of hope for many victims and survivors of the Troubles. On Monday, Robert McMillen spoke to Colin Davidson whose portraits of Troubles survivors, Silent Testimony, is back at the Ulster Museum as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement.  Also, Brendan J Byrne has made a film called Hear My Voice, which is based on Silent Testimony and which will be launched by Sen George Mitchell in Belfast today (Wednesday) ...
