Expessions of Interest in Seachtain na Gaeilge 2021 being sought in Fermanagh & Omagh District

DURING Seachtain na Gaeilge 2021 le Energia, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council intends celebrating the Irish Language through local communities and taking a broader approach to the language to include culture, arts and heritage.

To do this, the Council is looking for Expressions of Interest from across the district from community, arts, sports, cultural, heritage, linguistic and other groups and individuals who are keen to take part in this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge by organising a local event or activity.

The event or activity will celebrate a townland, village, town or community’s culture and might be a performance, demonstration, display of work, mini festival, exhibition, talent competition, open mic night or take many other forms.

The event or activity may be in-person, (subject to the current regulations regarding social distancing and other safety factors) online or a combination of both.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council anticipate supporting 12 events or activities across the district with £250 per proposal of financial support along with assistance with marketing and publicity.

:: In March of 2020, an exciting new partnership was launched between TG Lurgan, the Irish language youth organisation in Ireland famous for its pop videos, and Urdd Gobaith Cymru whose aim is to provide opportunities through the medium of Welsh to young people to help them develop their personal skills.

The joint video is Golau’n Dallu/Dallta ag na Solise, a cover Blinding Lights by The Weeknd.

28 young people recorded their voices from home and were given directions from videographer Griff Lynch for the music video.
