MOSTLY bearded Texan rock gods ZZ Top have announced a return to Ireland next year. Billy, Dusty and Frank will warm up with a load of US dates in the first half of 2017 before hopping the pond to visit Dublin's 3Arena on July 28 as part of their globe-trotting Tonnage Tour.
The trio's most recent release is Live! Greatest Hits From Around The World, featuring 15 Top tracks recorded 'in concert' across 13 cities and three continents – including two collaborations with guitar legend Jeff Beck captured in London: a version of the band's power ballad Rough Boy and a spirited run through their rocking cover of blues standard Sixteen Tons.
"It's gonna be a good time," enthused Billy F Gibbons of next year's touring plans.
The guitarist-wielding master of understatement continued: "We’ve been at this long enough that we're starting to get good. Come and see us; it's gonna be loud and live."
