THE programme for this year's Sound Of Belfast series has just been announced.

Coordinated by the Oh Yeah music centre, there will be 31 events over 10 days at venues including The Mandela Hall, Lavery's, Voodoo, The Elmwood Hall, The Empire, the MAC and The Eglantine.

Highlights include the premiere of Colm Laverty's new Malojian documentary This Is Nowhere at the MAC on November 5 and the Northern Ireland Music Prize at Mandela Hall on November 11, featuring live performances by Ports, Girls Names, Jealous Of The Birds and Oh Yeah Legend 2016 recipients, Ash.

Sound of Belfast will also feature gigs by Ryan Vail, The Bonnevilles, Robyn G Shiels and Hot Cops, plus the Breaking Into Music Youth Conference event on November 8 and a Music Cities afternoon examining how Belfast can strengthen its cultural tourism status.

Urban Affinity on November 9 will offer 'musical taster sessions' to young people from disadvantaged areas, while on November 10 there will be a CD launch by five acts from Oh Yeah’s talent development programme: Bosco Ramos, Emer Maguire, Petty Youth, Search Party and Vokxen.
