Pouring Justin Bieber on Cold Water a shrewd move by Major Lazer

MAJOR Lazer have enlisted Justin Bieber as vocalist on their latest track, Cold Water. The dance act helmed by Diplo, who have already had huge hits with Lean On and Light It Up, have made a shrewd move signing up one of the biggest-selling and most social-media-followed artists in the world, which will no doubt catapult Cold Water to summer anthem status over the next few weeks.

The tune itself is decent and while it may be a slight case of style over substance, Cold Water will soak you until you reluctantly surrender.

STILL DANCING

ANOTHER week and another remix of Robyn's Dancing On My Own. This week it's the turn of French dance act Cassius to pull it apart and stick it back together with new glue and a few chunkier nuts and bolts.

The original is, of course, clearly still the best version. You may as well do your own remix now – everyone else is doing one.

MENDES MAGIC

SHAWN Mendes has followed up the super catchy Stitches with a further equally infectious pop song. Treat You Better is another simply constructed and highly effective lovelorn track that bears the same acoustic driven hallmarks of his previous monster hit. It's hard to fathom that the 'man' himself is only 17 years of age and is creating such quality commercial records.

It may not reach the lofty heights in terms of sales as its predecessor but then after the money made by Stitches I'm sure Shawn will sleep easy.

ICE ICE BABY

JESSIE J is back after what seems like a lengthy break by current pop star standards.

The singer who pretty much took over the world with songs such as Domino and Price Tag has this time come up with a killer disco pop track called My Superstar which forms part of the soundtrack to the new movie Ice Age Collision Course.

To say My Superstar is a feel-good song would be the understatement of the year and thanks to the film, kids and adults alike will be overcome with cuddly cartoon animal euphoria. As usual, Jessie does that slightly annoying practice of vocal acrobatics where she feels the need to really show off her tonsorial gifts to full effect – but, hey, this is Ice Age we're talking about here and that somewhat irritating habit will not stop me enjoying the craic with Sid, Diego and Peaches!
