Fans who had paid just £5 a ticket to watch what they thought was a tribute act to Two Door Cinema Club were left shocked as the Co Down band who haven't played together since 2013 appeared on stage at Belfast's Limelight.

The gig had been advertised as tribute act Tudor Cinema Club but sold out as rumours circulated that the band were making a come back.

Yesterday afternoon music magazine NME leaked the story that the band were playing gigs across Ireland under the pseudonym, causing online frenzy among fans.

The Co Down group who had already played under the assumed name in Galway and Dublin, then Tweeted: "Two days ago we played our guitars on a stage together. First time in 2.5 years. It was bloody magical".

The band have previously headlined Tennents Vital and are said to be now working on their third album.
