THE Irish Country Music Awards, the Oscars of Ireland's country music scene, are coming to Armagh for the second consecutive year, with Irish TV broadcasting the event live from the Armagh City Hotel on May 9.

More than 72,000 public votes were cast across 12 categories last year, with top stars including Nathan Carter, Lisa McHugh and Johnny Brady picking up awards.

The awards, ranging from best female artist to best country music DVD, will be voted on by the public. This year Irish TV will also be including an international element to the awards with a special feature from the USA Country Music Hall of Fame.

“The Irish Country Music Awards are the flagship for the industry, with our top stars competing for honours and showcasing their recent and upcoming material to an adoring audience across the globe,” said Irish TV's head of music Malachi Cush.

Last year's celebration of the finest in Irish country music featured Mike Denver, Philomena Begley, Jimmy Buckley, Declan Nerney, Susan McCann and a host of emerging stars. The full line-up of entertainers for this year's awards 2016 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets can be booked from Irish TV at 098 56582, Armagh City Hotel at 00 44 283751 888 or emailing music@irishtv.ie
