DECEMBER is finally upon us, which means all things Christmassy are about to become inescapable – even at your local picture house, currently being invaded by seasonal releases like Bad Santa 2, Almost Christmas (Danny Glover's first/best/only Christmas film since the original Lethal Weapon) and Office Christmas Party.

Indeed, Strand Arts Centre are upping the festive ante with a selection of Christmas movie revivals throughout this month, including one rather unexpected choice.

While every right-thinking individual regards Will Ferrell's Elf (3pm, Dec 3 & 17 / 12.30pm, Dec 10 & 24), The Muppet Christmas Carol (12.30pm, Dec 3 & 17 / 3pm, Dec 10 & Dec 24 / 7pm, Dec 15) and It's A Wonderful Life (2pm & 8pm, Dec 22) as bona fide Christmas classics, most people have probably completely forgotten that Tim Burton's Batman Returns (8pm, Dec 8 & Dec 16) finds Danny DeVito's ghastly Penguin plotting a nightmare before Christmas for Gotham City.

And, for parents who feel like they didn't suffer enough the first time around, Frozen is back on the big screen on December 28 at 1.30pm for a special 'sing-along' presentation of its animated Christmas themed musical enchantment.
